The long-awaited return of Twitter’s verification application process is in a timeout after the social network was overrun with requests.

For the first time since November 2017, Twitter users had a way to apply for the blue checkmark that signifies verification, as the social network began rolling it out worldwide May 20.

However, just eight days later, Twitter said in a tweet from its @Verified account, “We’re rolling in verification requests. So we gotta hit pause on accepting any more for now while we review the ones that have been submitted.
