Twitter detailed the next steps it will take to provide expanded transparency about content moderation actions on its platform.

Legal, policy and trust and safety lead Vijaya Gadde and head of site integrity Yoel Roth said in a blog post that the Twitter Moderation Research Consortium will debut early next year, bringing together a global group of experts from academia, civil society, journalism and nongovernmental organizations to study governance issues on its platform.

Membership will be granted to groups or individuals with a proven track record of research on content moderation and integrity topics, or affiliation with a group that does that type of research, such as a newspaper, research lab or university.

Appropriate plans and systems for safeguarding the privacy and security of data provided by the consortium must be in place, as well.
