Twitter Marks 50th Anniversary of Title IX

The social network will host several Spaces Thursday

Title IX—the civil rights law that was part of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government—turns 50 Thursday, and Twitter is all over it, particularly with audio feature Twitter Spaces.

The social network said it wanted to “celebrate, participate and lead in the conversation” about the 50th anniversary of Title IX by creating an #OnlyOnTwitter opportunity to elevate women in several industries, with a spokesperson adding, “The global conversation and movement around equality for women is a drumbeat that has grown louder and louder over the past several years.
