Twitter Extends Labels for Government Officials, Media Entities to 16 Countries

They were introduced last August for the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council

Twitter’s labels on the accounts of key government officials and state-affiliated media entities are coming to more countries.

These labels were introduced last August for the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council: China, France, the Russian Federation, the U.K. and the U.S.

On Feb. 17, they will be extended to Group of Seven countries, as well as to a majority of countries that Twitter has attributed state-linked information operations to.

The complete list is: Canada, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Germany, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
