In a bid to regulate and review content posted by users, TikTok has poached hundreds of content moderators in Europe from outsourced companies that previously served competitors, such as Facebook, according to the Financial Times

Approximately 190 of the content moderators hired since January 2021 have previously held contracting jobs through companies like Accenture, Covalen and Cpl, according to the FT analysis.

“TikTok is paying attention,” founder of independent consulting firm Proof Nathan Woodman told Adweek, noting that while there is mounting pressure from EU regulators, TikTok is taking responsibility for its content; something Facebook has shied away from doing.

TikTok increasingly knows that safe and suitable content on its platform is more appealing for advertisers.
