TikTok: How to Turn Off Captions

TikTok last week introduced auto captions for users who are deaf or hard of hearing. With this release, captions are turned on for every user by default. If you don’t want to see captions on videos, you can turn them off. Our guide will show you how this is done.

Step 1: Tap “Me” in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Under the “Content & Activity” section, tap “Accessibility.”

Step 4: Tap the toggle to the right of “Always show captions” to turn captions off.
