Meta is pulling the plug on its attempt to carve into Twitch’s niche, saying last week that its standalone Facebook Gaming application will be shut down Oct. 28 and pulled from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The Android app rolled out globally in April 2020, with the aim of making it easier for gaming enthusiasts to watch videos from their favorite streamers, play Instant Games without the need to download separate apps and connect with like-minded users via gaming groups.
