After a 2019 study revealed that the amount of electrical energy used to stream and download digital music was leading to increased greenhouse gases, Spotify decided to do its part in helping improve the environment.
With Earth Day set to take place on April 22, the biggest music streaming platform’s Spotify Advertising arm will release what it described as “a first-of-its-kind sustainable audio offering” called Sustainable Sonics, which will utilize carbon offsets to balance out the environmental impact of the platform’s audio advertising.
