Audio giant Spotify announced its first foray into paid subscription podcasts on Tuesday, a similar move to Apple’s announcement last week.

Through Anchor, the podcast creation platform Spotify acquired in 2019, podcast creators will be able to charge a subscription fee on a per episode basis. That means that podcasters can offer tiered access to one segment of their audience that wants to listen to free episodes and another to audiences willing to pay for additional content.
