Audio streaming platform Spotify said Thursday that it acquired Whooshkaa, a podcast technology platform based in Australia that gives brands, broadcasters, independent creators and publishers the means to distribute, host, monetize and track their on-demand audio efforts.

Radio broadcasters in particular can tap a specialized tool from Whooshkaa to turn their existing audio content into on-demand podcast content.

That technology will be folded into Spotify’s Megaphone all-in-one platform for podcast analytics, monetization and publishing, giving radio publishers access to a full suite of tools.

This combination should also result in more global third-party content making its way onto audio advertising marketplace Spotify Audience Network.
