Snap Introduces Family Center In-App Tool for Parents, Teens

Snap Inc. introduced an in-application tool for parents, Family Center, with the goal of helping them learn who their teens are friends with on Snapchat and who they communicate with, without seeing the actual conversations.

Parents must install the Snapchat app and establish an account to use Family Center, and Snap explained in a blog post Tuesday, “Family Center is designed to reflect the way that parents engage with their teens in the real world, where parents usually know who their teens are friends with and when they are hanging out—but don’t eavesdrop on their private conversations.”
