Snap Inc. teamed up with Allrecipes on a new computer vision-powered feature for the Snapchat camera, Food Scan.

Food Scan will recommend recipes from Allrecipes based on more than 1,200 ingredients understood via the Snapchat camera, with a total of over 4,500 dishes.

Snap said as an example that a Snapchatter can scan an egg on the counter to see suggestions for relevant recipes from Allrecipes, doing so by opening the main camera screen, pointing it at the egg and pressing the Scan button.

In addition to recipes, Food Scan also brings relevant facts from Wikipedia to Snapchatters so that they can learn more about the ingredients they are cooking with.
