The adult in the room has left the room, as Meta said in a Form 8-K/A filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday that Sheryl Sandberg relinquished her role as chief operating officer.

Sandberg will remain as an employee of the company through Sept. 30, and she was succeeded by former chief growth officer Javier Olivan.

She revealed her impending departure June 1, saying in a Facebook post, “When I took this job in 2008, I hoped I would be in this role for five years: 14 years later, it is time for me to write the next chapter.”

Prior to joining then-Facebook, she served as vice president of global online sales and operations at Google, following a stint as chief of staff for former Secretary of the Treasury Larry Summers during the administration of President Bill Clinton.
