This should help pay the tab for its Super Bowl ad: Reddit raised over $250 million in series E funding from new and existing investors.

The company said it plans to double its work force this year, adding in a blog post, “It’s surprising not only for the pace of growth, but also that such a relatively lean team has been behind one of the most visited websites in the world.”

Areas that Reddit plans to target with the funds include advertising, consumer products, international expansion and video.
