Mergers and acquisitions activity among media and information companies through the first three quarters of 2007 occurred at a record-setting pace in 2007, according to New York-based M&A firm The Jordan, Edmiston Group Inc. (JEGI). Through September, M&A deals in the media and information industries numbered 637 transactions amounting to more than $95 billion in value—a 111-percent increase in the total value of deals completed during the first three quarters of 2006.

The business-to-business magazine sector saw the same number of deals in the first three quarters of 2007, compared with the same period of 2006, but total deal value declined by 16 percent.
