The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated change in ways we’d never seen before, societally and culturally. But it didn’t just create new fissures—it also underscored what many have known for some time: The healthcare system has consistently and chronically left people of color behind, creating racial health inequities.

Michael Sneed, Johnson & Johnson’s chief communication officer and evp of global corporate affairs, sat down with Adweek during our Outlook 2022 summit to discuss how the personal care company is working to eradicate racial and social injustice as a public health threat by eliminating health inequities for people of color.

Health takes center stage

Sneed sees the post-pandemic world as made up of people more focused on their health than the generations before them, which presents a unique opportunity for brand engagement.

“That interest takes on greater importance for consumers when it comes to making purchasing decisions,” Sneed explained.
