Editor’s Note: The Postal Service announced today it will appeal last month’s decision of the Postal Regulatory Commission not to allow an exigent rate increase. The USPS is asking the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington to review the decision rejecting January rate hikes averaging 5.6 percent—far higher for periodicals—in an effort to close an estimated budget gap of more than $7 billion by 2011.

Following is a statement from the MPA-The Association of Magazine Media:

New York, NY (October 22, 2010) — MPA-The Association of Magazine Media expresses disappointment with the decision of the Postal Service to appeal the September 30th ruling of the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) rejecting their exigent rate request.
