Pinterest released its Transparency Report for the second half of 2020 Thursday, saying that fewer than 0.02% of its monthly active users reported a Pin that resulted in a Pin deactivation during this period.
The platform shared the percentages of Pins that were removed for various violations of its terms where action was taken before a single Pinner viewed the content:
- Conspiracy theories: 91%
- Self-injury and harmful behavior: 90%
- Medical misinformation: 85%
- Spam: 85%
- Harassment and criticism: 78%
- Adult content: 76%
- Hateful activities: 73%
- Civic misinformation: 64%
- Dangerous goods and activities: 50%
- Graphic violence and threats: 50%
- Adult sexual services: 10%
From October through December 2020, Pins that were deactivated following user reports violated the following policies:
- Adult content: 155,313
- Harassment and criticism: 3,865
- Dangerous goods and activities: 2,296
- Self-injury and harmful behavior: 1,854
- Graphic violence and threats: 825
- Conspiracy theories: 786
- Civic misinformation: 782
