Neighborhood social network Nextdoor is taking steps to avoid posts with a “not in my neighborhood” vibe.

The company rolled out a pop-up reminder that detects potentially disparaging language about neighbors experiencing homelessness and encourages the user behind the post to think twice before it goes live.

The prompts—which direct users to the platform’s community standards on public shaming—are live in the U.S. and rolling out globally.

Nextdoor also compiled a resource center containing tips on discussing homelessness on its platform, information on helping unhoused neighbors and other resources to help neighbors be better informed on the topic.
