Neighborhood social network Nextdoor is putting community front and center in its new product strategy.

Head of product Kiran Prasad, who joined the company last April from LinkedIn, spearheaded the changes, citing research that found that people join Nextdoor to connect with the neighborhoods that matter to them and belong.

The goal is to build an “active, valued community” of businesses, neighbors and public services that can be trusted to exchange goods, services and valuable information.

Nextdoor began testing several new features and updates in select markets with the goal of fully implementing those changes in the coming months.
