National Geographic put its Instagram account in the hands of Quannah Rose Chasinghorse Friday.

Chasinghorse is an Indigenous model and activist known for using her platform to support Indigenous sovereignty and sustainability, and she is featured in “We Are Here,” the cover story for the magazine’s July issue.

The aim is to showcase Indigenous individuals and communities as they are for National Geographic’s 230 million-plus followers on Instagram and raise awareness that Native nations offer solutions for combating climate change issues such as food shortages, rising sea levels and wildfires based on their traditional knowledge.

The cover image, captured by photographer Kiliii Yüyan, features Chasinghorse in Tse’Bii’Ndzisgaii (Monument Valley), a park administered by the Diné.
