Conversations, a new virtual event from Meta dedicated to businesses, developers and partners interested in building better and faster experiences on the most popular messaging platforms, will take place Thursday, May 19.

Meta vice president of business messaging Matthew Idema said in a blog post Thursday that more than 1 billion users across Instagram DM, Messenger and WhatsApp connect with business accounts across those services each week, adding that Meta expects that number to grow as people seek more convenient and personal conversations.

New product updates and insights will be shared at the Conversations event, as well as feature technical deep-dives, demos and panels, and attendees will hear directly from Meta executives product leads and partners, as well as global brands.

Idema wrote, “The way people communicate with businesses is changing—and fast. Around the world, people are messaging with businesses of all sizes to ask questions about a purchase, get helpful information like a boarding pass or hotel reservation for an upcoming trip, and browse and discuss products from a local store—all in the same way they chat with friends and family. Gone are the days of calling a 1-800 number and waiting on hold or sending an email and not knowing whether it’s been read.”
