Messenger From Facebook, Facebook Open Arts Team Up on 360-Degree Backgrounds

6 artists from underrepresented communities will add their flavor to Messenger Rooms, video calls


Will corporate synergy result in quality 360-degree backgrounds? Messenger From Facebook and Facebook Open Arts will soon find out.

The messaging application and the creativity community are teaming up with six artists from underrepresented communities, and each of those artists will release a new 360-degree background for Messenger Rooms and video calls, incorporating their cultural influences and unique stories.

First-generation Mexican American Ana Serrano is first up, and Messenger wrote in a blog post Thursday, “Ana’s work highlights the socio-cultural elements of urban life in Latino neighborhoods, and she is especially captivated by how residents shape and decorate their spaces.
