With former President Donald Trump permanently banned from Twitter since the days after January’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Trump’s team apparently decided to create its own version of Twitter.

An application called Gettr quietly made its way onto the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store last month, with more than 1,000 downloads to date from each app store at the time of this post.

Politico reported that Gettr is being led by Jason Miller, a former spokesperson for Trump, adding that it was unclear how involved Trump himself is with the project and whether he will establish an account and use it to engage with supporters.

An email to the address provided on the Google Play listing for Gettr had not been responded to at the time of this post.
