Instagram Tuesday released a better way for users whose accounts may have been hacked to recover them.
Its new Security Checkup will guide people through steps including checking login activity, reviewing profile information, confirming accounts that share login information and updating account recovery contact information, such as phone number or email.
Other steps Instagram recommends for users to help their accounts secure include:
- Enable two-factor authentication and, once this is done, enable Login Request.
- Update phone numbers and email addresses.
