Instagram added the ability for iOS users to delete or deactivate their accounts through the application, in order to comply with updated guidelines for Apple’s App Store.

Users previously had to log into Instagram via a desktop or mobile web browser in order to delete their account, and while they had the option of deactivating via the app, their data was not deleted from Instagram’s servers, and they were not shown information about the choice of fully deleting the account.
