Hugo Barra, who has been leading virtual reality and augmented reality partnerships for Facebook Reality Labs, is leaving the company with the goal of entering the healthcare technology sector.

Barra joined Facebook in January 2017 as vice president of VR from Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi, where he had been since September 2013.

Prior to that, he served as vp of Android product management at Google.

Barra originally joined the social network to lead its VR business and development, shifting to his partnership role in 2019.
