There were over 2 billion tweets about gaming in 2020, up 75% from 2019, and those tweets came from more people, with a 49% increase in unique authors.

With Covid-19 putting the kibosh on in-person gatherings and events, some of the industry’s biggest moments and developments played out on the social network.

Gaming was the sixth-most-followed topic overall on Twitter in 2020, and the most followed gaming topics for the year were:

  5. Playstation
  6. Fortnite
  7. Call of Duty
  8. Minecraft
  9. Animal Crossing
  10. Xbox

The countries that tweeted the most about gaming last year were:
