The mission statements of social platforms usually contain some variation of the phrase, “connecting with others,” but the FBI would like to use those platforms to connect with people involved in the storming of the U.S. Capitol building Wednesday.

The bureau posted on its Facebook page and Twitter account Thursday morning, “The FBI is seeking to identify individuals instigating violence in Washington, D.C. We are accepting tips and digital media depicting rioting or violence in and around the U.S.
