Facebook teamed up with Le Grand Palais, the Palace of Versailles and The Smithsonian to bring parts of the collections of the cultural institutions from France and the U.S. to Instagram users via augmented reality effects.

The effects were built using Facebook’s Spark AR platform, and they will enable Instagram users to spin the works of art 360 degrees and zoom in closer than would be possible at the actual museums.

The initiative is expanding to galleries, as well, starting with a new piece by Daniel Arsham, “Eroded Venus,” which will be part of his “Time Dilation” exhibition that will open next year at Perrotin New York.
