She comes from Airbnb after holding several roles in the Barack Obama administration

Julie Wenah joined Facebook’s civil rights team as associate general counsel, civil rights, and product lead.

She spent the past four years at Airbnb, most recently as community senior counsel and acting regional counsel for Africa, driving legal support for the company’s civil liberties efforts, providing legal support for its business in Africa and acting as counsel for the anti-discrimination product, community support and trust and safety teams.

Prior to that, Wenah held several roles in the administration of former President Barack Obama, both in the White House and the Department of Commerce, leading various manufacturing, domestic and international economic development efforts, after serving as a legal fellow at NASA.
