Facebook teamed up with 14 leading publishers in Canada, which will participate in its News Innovation Test, a new initiative aimed at promoting a healthy news ecosystem, elevating authoritative journalism and delivering a valuable experience for news consumers on the social network.

Participating publishers will be paid to enable Facebook to link to additional news stories that have not already been posted to the social network, enabling Facebook to experiment with ways to enhance the experience of people looking for trusted Canadian news on its platform.
