Facebook Rejects One of Its Oversight Board’s Recommendations

Facebook and its independent content oversight board disagreed for the first time.

Vice president of global affairs and communications Nick Clegg said in a Newsroom post Thursday that Facebook committed to take action on 11 recommendations by the board, but the company disagreed with one and would not take action on it.

Facebook declared when the board’s charter was created that its decisions on content are binding, but its recommendations are advisory.

Clegg wrote, ‘There is one remaining recommendation that we disagree with and will not be taking action on since it relates to softening our enforcement of Covid-19
