Facebook will match up to $500,000 in donations made via its platform to UNICEF, which is assisting relief efforts following this past weekend’s earthquake in Haiti by delivering medical kits, sanitation supplies and water and providing shelter.

Chief diversity officer Maxine Williams wrote in a Facebook post Thursday, “It is one thing to see the images of devastation brought on by the earthquake that rippled through the country of Haiti on Saturday. It is quite another to be among the millions of human beings displaced and the thousands who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods.
