Facebook filed two lawsuits Tuesday with the aim of preventing abuse of its ad platform and protecting its users.

The first suit was filed against N&J USA, Mohit Melwani and Vishaal Melwani, which Facebook accused of running a bait-and-switch advertising scheme on its platform.

Director of platform enforcement and litigation Jessica Romero said in a Newsroom post that deceptive ads were run on Facebook promoting the sale of merchandise including clothing, toys and watches, and users clicking on those ads were redirected to third-party ecommerce sites to complete the transaction, but those users either never received anything or were sent lesser-quality goods than what had been promoted.

Romero added that the defendants blocked and concealed user complaints and negative reviews on their Facebook pages, and the social network had previously disabled several accounts and pages belonging to them.
