Earlier this month, Facebook said it would “significantly” reduce the distribution of content from pages and profiles run by the Myanmar Military, or the Tatmadaw, due to spreading misinformation following the military coup that occurred in the country Feb. 1. Late Wednesday, the social network took things further.
In an update to a previous Newsroom post, Facebook director of policy for Asia-Pacific emerging countries Rafael Frankel said all remaining Tatmadaw and military-controlled state and media entities from Facebook and Instagram were immediately banned, as are ads from military-linked commercial entities.
