Facebook users can now set up two-factor authentication and login to the social network on their Android and iOS devices via a security key.

The social network introduced the use of physical security keys to login via desktop in 2017.

Two-factor authentication enables users to safeguard their account every time they login from an unknown device by requiring both a password and a second element, typically an SMS code sent to a smartphone or authenticator application.

Starting Thursday, if users opt for a hardware security key, they will be asked to use the button on that key every time they try to access their account from a browser or device Facebook does not recognize.
