Discord: How to Stop Discord From Scanning Direct Messages

This feature has multiple settings to choose from

Sports marketing leaders from State Farm, the Golden State Warriors, the NBA and more will join ADWEEK Brand Play on May 9 to unpack the trends, techniques and tools you need to break into the space. Register for your virtual pass.

Did you know that Discord can automatically scan your incoming direct messages and delete anything that contains “explicit media content?” The feature will only scan the images you receive, not the text. If you want to change this setting, our guide will show you how.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Discord application on iOS.

Step 1: Tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner of Discord’s navigation menu.

Step 2: Tap “Privacy & Safety.”

Step 3: Tap “Keep me safe,” “My friends are nice” or “Do not scan,” depending on your preference.
