Community Chest: Twitter Scoops Up Team From Chat App Sphere

The team behind Sphere, a free chat application on Android, iOS and the web created to “transform groups into vibrant communities,” will be joining Twitter.

The social network said roughly 20 employees—including co-founders Nick D’Aloisio and Tomas Halgas—will work out of its office in London with a focus on Communities, creators, direct messages and tweets.

The Sphere app will be shuttered next month.

D’Aloisio and Halgas addressed their mission in a blog post revealing the news, writing, “The opportunity is massive.
