Instagram said that in the coming weeks, all videos posted to its platform that are below 15 minutes in length will be shared as Reels.

This change will not affect videos that were posted prior to its rollout.

Reels from users with public accounts will now be eligible to be recommended to and seen by more users on the platform, starting out with those under 90 seconds long. Reels from profiles set to private will be seen only by that profile’s followers.

Instagram is also consolidating its video and Reels tabs into a single destination on profiles.
