Week of Feb. 7 Nielsen Streaming Ratings: Prime Video Is No. 1 For the First Time With Reacher

Amazon Prime Video’s crime thriller series Reacher took the crown for the most streamed program during the week of Feb. 7, 2022, with 1.589 billion viewing minutes across eight episodes during its first full week of availability and outlasting four other billion-minute titles. This was the first time a Prime Video series has taken the top spot in Nielsen’s weekly streaming ratings. 

Netflix’s romantic drama Sweet Magnolias (1.556 billion viewing minutes across its 20 episodes) and crime drama Ozark (1.222 billion viewing minutes across its 37 episodes) were next, followed by Shonda Rhimes’ limited series about a false German heiress Inventing Anna (1.219 billion viewing minutes across its nine episodes). The animated musical fantasy comedy film Encanto on Disney+ rounds out the top 5, capturing 1.183 billion viewing minutes. Next was the Star Wars adventure The Book of Boba Fett on Disney+ (885 million viewing minutes across seven episodes), followed by police procedural NCIS (796 million viewing minutes across its 354 episodes), superhero drama Raising Dion (757 million viewing minutes across its 17 episodes), animated kids show Cocomelon (674 million viewing minutes across its 15 episodes), and police procedural Criminal Minds (653 million viewing minutes across its 320 episodes), all of which are on Netflix.

For original programs, viewers turned to new content. Reacher was again first, followed by Sweet Magnolias and Ozark. Inventing Anna and The Book of Boba Fett were next, trailed by Raising Dion and Netflix’s reality love experiment (478 million viewing minutes across its 19 episodes). Korean coming-of-age zombie apocalypse horror series All of Us Are Dead came after (454 million viewing minutes across its 12 episodes), followed by animated satirical fantasy sitcom Disenchantment (397 million viewing minutes across its 40 episodes) and the
Kristen Bell-led thriller The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (366 million viewing minutes across its eight episodes), all of which are on Netflix.

For acquired programs, consumers turned mostly to long-standing programs, shows that they could binge-watch for hours on end. Netflix had the top 5 spots: NCIS, Cocomelon, Criminal Minds, sitcom Seinfeld (425 million viewing minutes across its 166 episodes), and medical drama Grey’s Anatomy (405 million viewing minutes across its 383 episodes). Rounding out the top 10 are: animated sitcom Rick and Morty on Hulu (385 million viewing minutes across its 51 episodes), animated sitcom The Simpsons on Disney+ (295 million viewing minutes across its 609 episodes), dark fantasy drama Supernatural on Netflix (289 million viewing minutes across its 328 episodes), sitcom New Girl on Netflix (289 million viewing minutes across its 146 episodes), and British historical drama Downton Abbey (267 million viewing minutes across its 50 episodes).

For movies, Disney’s Encanto continued its reign on the streaming movie universe. British true crime documentary film The Tinder Swinder was next (480 million viewing minutes), followed to animated films Despicable Me 2 (361 million viewing minutes) and Despicable Me (253 million viewing minutes), all of Netflix. Netflix’s romantic comedy Tall Girl 2 came afterward (195 million viewing minutes), trailed by sports comedy Home Team (180 million viewing minutes) and German film The Privilege (253 million viewing minutes), both streaming on Netflix. Last were Disney’s animated films Moana (161 million viewing minutes) and Luca (152 million viewing minutes) and Amazon’s romantic comedy I Want You Back (149 million viewing minutes).
