Week of Feb. 14 Nielsen Streaming Ratings: Inventing Anna Takes the Top Spot

Shonda Rhimes’ series about a false German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene, along with their money, Inventing Anna was most streamed program during the week of Feb. 14. The limited series wracked up an impressive 3.283 billion viewing minutes across nine episodes during Valentine’s Day week and outlasting three other billion-minute titles.

Netflix’s dating reality series Love Is Blind (1.439 billion viewing minutes across its 23 episodes) and the animated musical fantasy comedy film Encanto on Disney+ (1.224 billion viewing minutes) were next, followed by Netflix’s crime drama Ozark (1.083 billion viewing minutes across its 37 episodes). Amazon Prime Video’s crime thriller series Reacher rounds out the top 5, after being the most streamed program the week prior, capturing 935 billion viewing minutes across its eight episodes. Next was romantic drama Sweet Magnolias (898 million viewing minutes across 20 episodes), followed by police procedural NCIS (856 million viewing minutes across its 354 episodes), animated kids show Cocomelon (661 million viewing minutes across its 15 episodes), and police procedural Criminal Minds (647 million viewing minutes across its 320 episodes), all of which are on Netflix, and the Amy Sherman-Palladino-created period dramedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (499 million viewing minutes across its 28 episodes) on Amazon, thanks to its fourth season premiere.

For original programs, viewers turned to recent content. Inventing Anna was again first, followed by Love Is Blind and Ozark. Reacher and Sweet Magnolias were next, trailed by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Netflix’s superhero drama Raising Dion (489 million viewing minutes across its 17 episodes), the Steve Carell-led comedy Space Force (438 million viewing minutes across its 17 episodes) came afterward, trailed by followed by Korean coming-of-age zombie apocalypse horror series All of Us Are Dead (340 million viewing minutes across its 12 episodes) on Netflix and the Star Wars adventure The Book of Boba Fett (339 million viewing minutes across its seven episodes) on Disney+.

For acquired programs, consumers turned mostly to seasons-long programs, shows that they could binge-watch for hours upon hours. Netflix had the top 5 spots: NCIS, Cocomelon, Criminal Minds, medical drama Grey’s Anatomy (464 million viewing minutes across its 383 episodes) and sitcom Seinfeld (414 million viewing minutes across its 166 episodes), and. Rounding out the top 10 are: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (338 million viewing minutes across its 63 episodes) on Disney+, dark fantasy drama Supernatural (335 million viewing minutes across its 328 episodes) on Netflix, sitcom New Girl (335 million viewing minutes across its 146 episodes) on Netflix, Australian animated kids show Bluey (298 million viewing minutes across its 87 episodes) on Disney+ and British historical drama Downton Abbey (291 million viewing minutes across its 50 episodes) on Netflix.

For movies, Disney’s Encanto continued its reign on the streaming movie universe. The Bill Murray-led dramedy St. Vincent was next (411 million viewing minutes), followed by British true crime documentary film The Tinder Swinder (334 million viewing minutes), animated film Despicable Me 2 (304 million viewing minutes) and slasher film Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) (303 million viewing minutes), all streaming on Netflix. Thriller Blackhat came afterward (253 million viewing minutes), trailed by supernatural action thriller Fistful of Vengeance (186 million viewing minutes) and animated film Despicable Me (182 million viewing minutes), all on Netflix. Netflix’s romcom Tall Girl 2 (172 million viewing minutes) and Disney’s animated musical adventure film Moana (168 million viewing minutes) on Disney+ were last.
