Vikings: Valhalla, The Weekend Away Among Netflix’s Top 10 Shows and Films for Week of Feb. 28

Netflix fans were all in on action and drama last week.

Leighton Meester’s new murder mystery thriller The Weekend Away, a woman’s search to figure out what happened to her best friend who vanishes during a girls trip to Croatia, and Vikings: Valhalla, the adventures of famous Vikings as they blaze new paths in an ever-changing Europe, have topped Netflix’s latest Top 10 list for English films and TV shows, respectively, for the week of Feb. 28.

On the TV side, Vikings: Valhalla racked up an impressive 113.38 million hours viewed. Shonda Rhimes‘ limited series Inventing Anna (77.59 million hours) and the first season of thriller Pieces of Her (53.68 million hours) were next, followed by the docuseries Worst Roommate Ever (52.38 million hours) and everyone’s favorite quarantine-binged reality love experiment Love Is Blind’s second season (39.75 million hours).

Next was Whodunit murder mystery One of Us Is Lying’s first season (16.55 million hours), followed by the Kanye West docuseries jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy (12.2 million hours). Last were the first season of the animated series The Cuphead Show! (11.81 million hours), the second season of drama Sweet Magnolias (11.78 million hours), and the first part of crime drama Ozark’s fourth and final season (9.11 million hours).

For non-English TV, dramas were the shows of choice. Korean legal drama Juvenile Justice’s first season earned the top spot, as viewers spent 45.93 million hours watching. The first season of Columbian telenovela Café con aroma de mujer came next (27.54 million hours), followed by Korean coming-of-age zombie apocalypse series All of Us Are Dead’s first season (24.02 million hours) and Brazilian drama series Back to 15’s first season (18.06 million hours).

The first seasons of Korean romantic comedy Twenty Five Twenty Office (13.72 million hours) and Indian thrilled The Fame Game (11.61 million hours), were next, trailed by the first seasons of Korean series Forecasting Love and Weather (10.79 million hours) and Turkish drama Midnight at the Pera Palace (10.78 million). Rounding out the list were Thirty Nine’s first season (10.49 million hours) and Spanish thriller Dark Desire’s second season (10.4 million hours).

On the film side, The Weekend Away had 44.45 million hours viewed. Newly released historical survival film Against the Ice was second (30.73 million hours), followed by comedy A Madea Homecoming (26.41 million hours). Animated films got some love last week, with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse at fourth (13.94 million hours), Shrek 2 at fifth (13.04 million hours) and Shrek at seventh (7.78 million hours). The two Shrek films were sandwiched by The Tinder Swindler, the documentary film about an Israeli con artist who swindled his Tinder dates to fund his lavish lifestyle (9.51 million hours).

Seventh was Reese Witherspoon-led drama Just Like Heaven (7.16 million hours), followed by the animated series Despicable Me 2 (6.89 million hours viewed) and military science fiction action Battleship (6.71 million hours).

For non-English films, the French crime thriller Restless was No. 1 with 26.03 million hours viewed. The Korean film The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure comes in second (17.71 million hours), followed by Russian-language feature film Chernobyl 1986 (7.73 million hours), Spanish teen romance Through My Window (8.96 million hours), and Turkish rom-com Love Tactics (3.66 million).

Rounding out the top 10 are: the Dutch comedy Meskina (2.94 million hours), Mexican comedy A Woman With No Filter (2.86 million hours), Polish drama My Wonderful Life (2.5 million hours), Turkish film UFO (2.44 million hours) and Mexican romantic comedy Valentina’s Wedding (2.42 million hours).
