Twitter CEO Trying Improv to Lure Female TV Stars to Twitter

By Jordan Chariton

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo told NBC “Today” host Matt Lauer that he might dig into his improv roots to lure some of TV’s biggest female comics onto Twitter.

“I would say it’s the collection of female comedians,” Costolo said. “Melissa McCarthy, it’s Tina Fey, it’s Amy Poehler.  I should be able to use some of my pull from my Chicago improvisation days to get a few of ’em onto the platform– and I’ll make that my goal.”

In his first interview since his company went public earlier in the year, Costolo talks to Lauer about Twitter’s power, what he sees as the “cardinal sin” of tweeting, and dealing with being the oldest guy in the room at a predominately younger company.
