truTV premiers episodes of ‘Motor City Masters’ on Google+ in massive social TV push

Screen Shot 2014-07-02 at 10.30.24 PMtruTV, the Turner owned network recently premiered Motor City Masters, a new show that “pits 10 talented designers from different parts of the automotive industry against each other each week in the ambitious task of creating new, fully-functional concept cars based around a theme.” The Top Gear meets Project Runway show launched with a massive social TV campaign that includes premiering episodes of the show on Google+ as a way to give fans a chance to sample the show. Here are the details.

Premiering the first episode early on social:
According to the network, making the first episode available a week before premiere proved to be quite a success, as it’s currently rated a 4.2 out of 5. Check it out here.

Social TV aftershow:
Behind The Design with Rich Evans, the Lead Auto Tech on the show, gives viewers exclusive insights into the episode after it airs and is only available on truTV’s website.

Live tweeting the premiere:
The series kicked off with several social activations including live tweeting on premiere day by @truTV, participation from cast members & Chevrolet, as well as behind the scenes content that went live on truTV’s website after the premiere.

We’ll be playing close attention to this new show that’s using Google in creative ways to drive tune in and market the show.
