Before “The Slap” even premiered it was the butt of some very good jokes. But it turns out you are all secretly hate-watching it and coming up with STD puns. But there’s a lot to hate about the new NBC drama.
It’s whiteness:
I kind of feel like #TheSlap could solve the liberal-conservative divide forever if we could just get enough people to watch it.

It’s like getting a glimpse into White People Land for one hour a week. #TheSlap good entertainment but their reality is so… strange. — jazzì jöhnsoń (@bubbleMAMI) March 20, 2015
Like, really — how else but for the grace of Hollywood’s love affair with whiteness could a show like “The Slap” exist? — Saeed Jones (@theferocity) February 25, 2015
And its general lack of characters you’d want to grab a beer with:
A whole lot of people need to be slapped on #TheSlap. I feel like Cher should come on, slap folks and say “Snap out of it”

My favorite character in #TheSlap is New York City. — E# (@elliottsharp) March 20, 2015
Penn Badgley’s character is on a Gossip Girl-like show. This is great. #TheSlap — Carrie Raisler (@TVandDinners) February 22, 2015
Then, there’s the fact that it feels so forced, and sounds like an STD:
Just got home and see that #TheSlap is trending. Didn’t watch. Thought it sounded more like a new STD than a TV show… Is that bad?

ABC saw promos for The Slap and was like “WE CAN ONE UP THIS, SOMEONE GET RYAN PHILLIPPE ON THE PHONE” — Robby Kalland (@RKalland) February 23, 2015
Watching episode 3 of The Slap. It feels like beating the hardest level so far on a video game.

Why is Zach Quinto an Armenian gun runner? Why is Gossip Girl there? Why is everyone driving in New York City? #TheSlap #Questions — jonny umansky (@jonnyumansky) February 13, 2015
