Netflix Teases Stranger Things Season 4’s Supersized Ending

By Jessica Lerner

Was it cruel for Netflix to split Stranger Things Season 4 into two volumes? Maybe. Does it help that the streamer has released first-look images for Volume 2? It does.

The main cast is shown coming together for the season’s supersized ending in the first-look photos. The characters seem to be dealing with their own problems, with the Hawkins group forming a plan to take down Vecna, the sunny California crew seeking down Eleven, and Hopper and his pals attempting to flee Russia. And yes, we have confirmation that Nancy makes it out of the Upside Down alive.

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1—comprised of the season’s first seven episodes—premiered May 27. Volume 2, which contains the final two episodes, will debut July 1. Episode 408 will run 1 hour and 25 minutes, while the season finale, Episode 409, will be a whopping 2 hours and 20 minutes.

The Netflix synopsis reads: “It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time—and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

Stranger Things Volume 1 was the most-streamed program on the streamer’s Top 10 list, pulling in 286 million viewing hours and breaking records as the most-watched English-language series in a single week, landing the No.1 spot on Top 10 lists in 91 countries. To date, Stranger Things 4 Volume 1 has amassed 621.8 million hours viewed on the streaming platform.
