
Happy Star Trek Day!
Thursday marks the 56th anniversary of the original Star Trek series, and Paramount+ is hosting a global live-streamed event to celebrate the long-lasting franchise, complete with panel discussions fan events, live red carpet interviews and more.
Here are the biggest announcements to come from Star Trek Day 2022:
The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard will debut on Feb. 16, with new episodes set to be released Thursdays on Paramount+. The streamer also released a new teaser for the upcoming season, featuring a first look at the new starship, the U.S.S. Titan.
Season 1 of the original animated kids’ series Star Trek: Prodigy will have its mid-season return on Oct. 27. Additionally, Billy Campbell will be joining the voice cast in a recurring role, reprising his Star Trek: The Next Generation role as Thadiun Okona, a roguish space captain who’s constantly outrunning trouble caused by his own tactics.
The first look clip of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 was released, which sees Lt. Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia) excited for a rare away team assignment with Captain Pike (Anson Mount), Lt. La’An Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) and Dr. M’Benga (Babs Olosukomun). Carol Kane has also been tapped to join the cast in the recurring role of Pelia, someone who “solves problems calmly and brusquely, thanks to her many years of experience.”
There’s also an exclusive sneak peek of a scene from an upcoming episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks. The sneak peek is of episode Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus, in which Boimler’s holodeck movie sequel tries to live up to the original.
