This year, South Park commemorates the 25th anniversary of its Comedy Central premiere on Aug. 13, 1997. The animated short The Spirit of Christmas introduced Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny, who became well-known television characters. Comedy Central has extended South Park for a 30th season through 2027, making it the longest-running scripted program on cable television.
