Social Scoreboard: Week of November 10

By Adam Flomenbaum

Nielsen’s Twitter TV Ratings chart took some interesting turns this week. Lifetime’s ‘Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B’ took the number one spot with 997,000 tweets by 258,000 unique authors. It grabbed the top spot because it was so comically bad. Whereas ‘Sharknado’ was both comically bad and enjoyable, ‘Aaliyah’ was met on social with pure vitriol. I believe this is called “hate-watching.”

‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Scandal’ took their usual spots in the Top 5. Also in the Top 5 were ESPN’s ’30 for 30’ on Randy Moss and CBS’ ‘The Hollywood Film Awards.’ You know how there are about 50 different film awards before the Oscars? In the next few years each of them will air on TV as long as people still tweet about them.
